Direct from Indianapolis the National Champion ComedySportz team is a competitive improvisation; think “Who’s Line is it Anyway” with a sporting twist. Two teams of improvisational “Actletes” compete for laughs, points on the scoreboard, and the Meaningless Trophy. The referee keeps the match moving, gets suggestions from the loyal fanz, and calls any foul that occurs on the playing field. Since ComedySportz is an actual sport, there are fouls that can occur. The audience judges select the winner! It’s Baltimore in the 1960’s, where the 50′s are out — and change is in the air. HAIRSPRAY features the loveable plus-size heroine, Tracy Turnblad, who has a passion for dancing, and wins a spot on the local TV dance program, “The Corny Collins Show.” Overnight she finds herself transformed from outsider to teen celebrity. Can a larger-than-life adolescent manage to vanquish the program’s reigning princess, integrate the television show, and find true love without mussing her hair?
